Over the last 10 years, T&B have recognised the growing importance and dependency of effective IT resources within the workplace and have consequently invested heavily in staff, software and equipment. The IT section falls directly under the jurisdiction of our chairman.

THE IT TEAM - The in-group IT section is based at St.Albans and consists of an IT Manager and an IT Administrator. Additional external consultants are contracted in for special projects.

SOFTWARE - The software that T&B currently have installed on servers and workstations include:

OPERATING SYSTEMS - Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional

GENERAL APPLICATIONS - MS Exchange, Office 2000, Office XP and Intranet System

INDUSTRY SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS - KMS Project Base and Asta Power Project

SITE BASED IT - Our major sites have workstations configured with Virtual Private Network (VPN) links to our company network, thus providing access to our internal servers and email system.

TRAINING - The IT Department automatically provides user training when upgrading software, installing new software or setting up workstations for new employees. Any additional training required is co-ordinated by the Training Manager and is sourced and provided to suit individual needs.

DEVELOPMENT - The technical section is constantly developing our intranet system as a means of sharing information within the offices and with sites.

We have recently introduced an Extranet system which will allow clients to view project specific data via the internet using a standard web browser. Ability to view this data is restricted using username and password protection. The system can be expanded and tailored to suit client requirements.
