As part of our ongoing policy to improve on our impressive safety record we have developed a programme of various safety initiatives.

Schools:
One of our major initiatives has been aimed at creating site safety awareness at operational schools to ensure that the pupils and staff are made aware of the many dangers associated with building activities.

Through consultation with the staff we design a series of events to satisfy the children’s natural interest in the building work being carried out at their school, whilst alerting them to the various dangers.

Examples of elements within the programme, which are tailored to suit individual schools requirements can include:

• Presentation by H&S consultant and site manager of safety videos
• Making copies of programmes and drawings available to each class
• Providing promotional safety give-a-ways packs to the children
• Organising site safety awareness quizzes, with prizes
• Holding art competitions to reinforce safety aspect of building sites.
• Allowing winners of the competitions to lay bricks in the new buildings
